After calling Darby Borough home for nearly a century and a half, Sharon Bank is moving its headquarters to Springfield this summer, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

According to CEO Joseph Corrato, the small bank will keep its retail branch on Chester Pike in Darby, but it will move out of its administrative and lending facilities.

“We were running out of space,” said Corrato. “So we thought it would be a good idea to get everyone under the same roof and give ourselves room to grow.”

The privately held bank will lease the top floor of a building at 900 West Sproul Road, part of McKee Plaza, pending regulatory approval. The bank will also open a retail branch on the first floor.

“It’s not an ideal spot, but since our corporate headquarters will be there, it makes some sense,” said Corrato.

The bank already has a branch in Springfield on East Springfield Road.

The newest addition will be the bank’s fifth branch, with the others in Aston and South Philadelphia.
