A century-old Queen Anne-style home with eight bedrooms and period detailing is on the market in Swarthmore for $750,000, writes Shannon Rooney for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The home was purchased by Joe Anderson’s father in 1968. According to Anderson, his father first noticed the home in 1944, when he moved into his dormitory at Swarthmore College. He immediately fell in love with the beautiful house, and when it came on the market decades later, he did not hesitate.

“He went over to the house the next day and looked at it,” said Anderson.

The nearly 5,000-square-foot property turned out to be the perfect family home.

“I loved the fact that we had so much room,” said Anderson.

The family has made a lot of cosmetic changes during their half-century of living there.

Since Anderson’s father died in January, he and his siblings have decided to sell the family estate so that another family can enjoy it. However, according to Anderson, the new owners will have to make some updates.

“You really have to love old homes to maintain old homes,” he said.
