Haverford College is once again among the schools nationwide with the most Fulbright Student Award recipients, writes Rebecca Raber for the college.

The college earned its place on the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ list with five students earning Fulbright Awards for 2018-2019. This puts Haverford College among the approximately 50 undergraduate liberal arts institutions in the country with the highest number of students awarded Fulbright grants.

Almost a third of Haverford students who applied for the highly competitive fellowship last year received one. They were guided through the formidable process by Phil Bean, Associate Dean of the College and Dean of Academic Affairs. He has been the college’s Fulbright Program Advisor for the last 17 years.

The students selected last spring for the awards were George O’Hara, Brett Pogostin, Charles Hale, Julian Schneider, and Anna Russell.

“We are once again absolutely thrilled to see and celebrate our students’ extraordinary success in securing Fulbright Awards,” said Haverford College President Kim Benston.

This is the seventh time in 13 years that Haverford has been a Fulbright “Top Producer” highlighted in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
