Check Out How Much Delco’s Population Increased Between 2017 and 2018

According to recently released Census Bureau estimates, the populations of both Chester and Delaware counties grew slightly in 2018, writes Michaelle Bond and John Duchneskie for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Chester County gained 3,112 residents last year, bringing its total to 522,046, which represents a 0.6 percent increase from 2017’s tally of 518,934.

Delaware County gained 1,264 residents last year, bringing its total to 564,751, which represents a 0.2 percent increase from 2017’s tally of 563,487.

Throughout America, the counties with the highest numbers of new residents are in the South and the West. Of the nation’s more than 3,100 counties, 55 percent gained residents between 2017 and 2018 and 44 percent lost residents.

For the 12th consecutive year, Philadelphia’s population grew as it added more than 3,900 residents between 2017 and 2018, placing the city’s total at more than 1.58 million.

The metropolitan area, which includes Philadelphia, Camden, and Wilmington, is the eighth most populous in the country, with more than six million people. This region’s population increased by approximately 18,000 between 2017 and 2018.
