A new analysis conducted by PredictWise for The Atlantic shows that prejudice runs high between Democrats and Republicans in Chester and Delaware counties, writes Paul Vigna for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

PredictWise ran a nationwide poll of 2,000 adults asking people how they would feel if a close member of their family married a Republican or a Democrat, how they would describe Democrats versus Republicans, and other similar questions.

The results showed significant variation between how Democrats and Republicans see each other from place to place. According to the analysis, the most politically intolerant Americans tend to be whiter, older, more highly educated, urban, and more partisan.

The analysis put Chester County in the 70th percentile, meaning that 30 out of every 100 counties are more prejudiced against the “other.”

It also found that both Democrats and Republicans in Chester County appear considerably more prejudiced against those favoring the other party than Democrats and Republicans elsewhere.

Delaware County is in the 85th percentile, meaning that 15 out of every 100 counties are more prejudiced against the “other.”

Democrats appear more prejudiced against Republicans than Democrats elsewhere. Meanwhile, Republicans appear somewhat more prejudiced against Democrats than Republicans elsewhere.
