When the Philadelphia Flyers recently played the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2019 NHL Stadium Series at Lincoln Financial Field, Neumann University graduate Jim Britt and his son, Jim Jr., had different rooting interests, writes Adam Kimelman for NHL.com.

The younger Britt has worked for the Penguins for a decade and has been director of team services since 2012. His father, meanwhile, was hired by Ed Snider, the late founder of the Flyers, to run the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation.

“I know passions run high,” said the elder Britt.

Britt retired in 2003 but then decided to get a master’s degree in sports management from Neumann. Soon after, he was hired as the hockey director at Flyers Skate Zone. His work there caught the eye of Snider, who hired him in April 2005. Britt stayed there until 2017, when he retired again.

Despite the rivalry, both men are happy when the Penguins play the Flyers in Philadelphia.

“With my schedule, it’s often the only time I get to see family during the season,” said Jim Jr.
