Upper Darby native Michael Casey, owner of Liberty Cheesesteaks in New Orleans, is bringing authentic Philly cheesesteaks to the Big Easy, according to NBC10.

Casey, who attended St. Joseph’s Prep, went to Tulane University in New Orleans and opened his steak shop in the heart of the city nine years ago.

His restaurant offers a cheesesteak experience as close to the Philadelphia one as possible. In fact, Casey ships in his meat directly from the City of Brotherly Love, while the bread comes from Liscio’s Bakery in Glassboro, N.J.

Despite moving to New Orleans, Casey also remains a huge fan of the Eagles. He was at the game earlier in the season when the Birds suffered a 48-7 loss to the Saints.

He also often sees his steak shop packed with Philadelphians who now call New Orleans home.
