Christine O’Meara and Elizabeth Ferro, two sisters who live five houses apart from each other in Ridley Township, gave birth at Riddle Hospital on the same day, writes Kathleen Carey for the Delaware County News Network.

O’Meara had a boy named Michael Edward on Dec. 14, while Ferro welcomed a girl named Elizabeth Jane later that day. Eleven days later, the babies spent Christmas together with their moms.

“We’re always together with different events,” said O’Meara.

The sisters also announced their pregnancy at almost the same time, with their due dates the same for a while. After their ultrasounds, the dates changed, and they wondered if they would end up giving birth on the same day.

“It was really great,” said O’Meara. “People were rooting for it. It was really, really neat.”

Michael Edward was born at 8:07 AM, while his cousin Elizabeth Jane arrived at 10:36 PM.

O’Meara, who has two other children with her husband, Brian, found it extra special that her sister gave birth on the same day.

“My sister, it was her first,” she said. “It was probably one of the best feelings I ever had.”
