More people than ever are leaving New York and moving to neighboring states – Pennsylvania in particular – to find an easier life, writes Hailey Eber for the New York Post.

Colin and Lia LoBello Reynolds decided to leave when they discovered Lia was pregnant. They had both been offered jobs by a manufacturing company in Malvern, so they relocated to suburban Philadelphia.

They bought a four-bedroom home in Glen Mills, where their mortgage of $4,000 a month was only $200 more than their old one-bedroom apartment in the Financial District.

And despite both taking around a 30 percent pay cut – with the lower cost of living, lower taxes, and bonuses – they are still ahead.

The move also gave them a big backyard for their dog and plenty of indoor space for their nine-month-old son. However, one thing they had some trouble getting used to was how quiet it is in Glen Mills, compared to the hustle and bustle of New York City.

“In New York, people live to work,” said Lia. “Out here, it’s really work to live. There’s something really nice about it.”
