Wawa has partnered with its Delaware County neighbor, 2SP Brewing in Aston, to create Winter Reserve Coffee Stout, a limited-edition beer, writes Michael Klein for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The coffee beer was created by Bob Barrar, head brewer of the award-winning brewery. It combines Wawa’s limited-edition Winter Blend coffee with 2SP’s oatmeal stout. According to Wawa and 2SP, the flavor profile has notes of sweet clove, dark chocolate, and graham crackers.

The beer will be launched at the Wawa store at 721 Naamans Creek Road in Chadds Ford on Dec. 6. During the event, the first 50 cases will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, limited to two four-packs per person.

The idea came during a 2SP meeting in which members of the brew team were drinking Wawa coffee, each with different roasts, and comparing notes similarly to beer tasting.

“Then it occurred to us: Why don’t we hit up our neighbors at Wawa and see if they had any interest in brewing a coffee stout with us?” said Michael Contreras, 2SP’s director of sales and marketing.
