Scott Simon, CEO of Broomall-based Swiss Farms, is not deterred in his attempts to revitalize the company despite being located in the heart of Wawa turf, writes Jane Von Bergen for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“There’s enough space in the whole world – everyone’s looking for something,” Simon said.

Simon noted that Wawa is not the only competitor Swiss Farms is up against. That is why he is planning to increase the company’s presence by expanding to 14 Sunoco gas stations, which will be rebranded as Swiss Farms.

Swiss Farms’ 13 existing stores, which are mostly in Delaware and Chester counties, operate as drive-thrus. This allows customers to pull up and give their order to an employee, who returns with the requested product, be it milk and eggs or organic goods.

Simon alluded to this as one of the key factors that makes Swiss Farms stand out.

“When you drive through with your car, the intimacy is so much greater than two people in line and you’re waiting,” he said. “Now the employee can say, ‘Hi, how are you? Oh, I remember you. You got the pretzel from me last time. How’d you like it?’”
