The Foundation for Delaware County recently welcomed its inaugural community grant recipients to a convening at The Inn at Swarthmore.

Guests heard from three collaborative grant recipients – CASA Youth Advocates, Chester Community Coalition, and Child Guidance Resource Centers – about how their individual grants will address critical issues for residents of Delaware County.

Awardees, foundation staff, and committee members participated in roundtable discussions to share information about their programs and discuss common issues faced by the nonprofit community.

“There was so much energy and enthusiasm in the room and The Foundation for Delaware County looks forward to many collaborations in the future as we move Delaware County forward,” said Frances Sheehan, the foundation’s president.

The Foundation for Delaware County, the largest public charity in Delaware County, announced its first major round of grantmaking in November. In total, the foundation committed $1,165,000 in awards through 46 grants to 42 area nonprofits.

Grants were awarded in the areas of children’s health and nutrition; maternal health services; preventive healthcare; substance use, including the opioid epidemic; preparing high school students for post-graduate success; hospice and home care; and strengthening the nonprofit community.
