Dozens of customers at the Walmart in Eddystone received an early Christmas present when a Secret Santa paid off $25,000 in layaway bills, writes Kevin Tustin for the Delaware County News Network.

According to Walmart spokesman Casey Staheli, 80 accounts that had been opened between Thanksgiving and Dec. 8 were paid off.

The generous benefactor decided to remain anonymous, as he or she saved an average of $300 for each customer on the list.

Staheli said that such anonymous contributions usually take place during the holiday season at Walmart stores across the country.

The layaway policy at Walmart states that payment in full on items has to be made by Dec. 10. Unpaid accounts will then be canceled and a fee will be applied to the purchase. Partial payments made up to that date will be returned.
