This summer at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Penn State student Brooklyn Gabriel met pro golfer Jason Day, who secured her four-year scholarship with an ace at the 2017 BMW Championship in suburban Chicago, writes Justin McDaniel for Penn State News.

During the tournament at Conway Farms Golf Club last year, Day made the shot of the day with a hole-in-one on the 17th. That unlocked BMW’s scholarship donation of full tuition and housing worth $100,000 to the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars Foundation.

The foundation awarded the scholarship to Gabriel, a first-year student at Penn State.

Gabriel applied for the scholarship after working as a caddie at Glen View Club for three successful summers through the Western Golf Association’s Caddie Academy.

She got the chance to personally thank Day in September at this year’s BMW Championship at Aronimink. She also posed for pictures with and got an autograph from the 2015 PGA champion.
