One of the best haunted attractions in the country is right here in Delaware County, write Michael Neibauer and Alison Burdo for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride is ranked fourth nationwide by America Haunts. It describes Arasapha Farm in Glen Mills as “an incredible display of terror and mayhem.”

“The high-tech special effects cater to fans looking for high startle and high action,” said America Haunts, the nation’s premier haunted house and attraction association.

It said the 28-year-old attraction transports visitors to another time and world, and provides them with the creepy sixth-sense feeling they are being constantly watched.

Ranking among the Top Five haunted attractions is quite an achievement, as there are 1,200 professional haunted houses and 300 theme parks featuring horror attractions across the nation. There are also 3,000 spook shows run by charity organizations.

According to the team behind the attraction, the Haunted Hayride lasts for 25 minutes and includes 75 actors and pyrotechnics, while the Bates Motel brings the experience to a whole new level.
