Newtown Square-based General Recreation recently oversaw the installation of playground equipment at the new Carsonia Park Playground in Lower Alsace Township in Berks County, writes Ron Devlin for the Reading Eagle.

Around 30 volunteers worked tirelessly to install the equipment, which was manufactured by Landscape Structures and purchased through General Recreation, a distributor of park, recreation, and playground equipment.

The project is the culmination of two years of planning, fundraising, and physical labor.

“Our goal is to help children and families get physical and emotional benefits of outdoor play,” said Jay Worrall, chair of the Antietam Valley Recreation Commission and director of the Holleran Center for Community and Global Engagement at Alvernia University.
