The Philadelphia Union has big goals when it comes to the land surrounding Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, writes Jonathan Tannenwald for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

According to its chief business officer, Tim McDermott, the team is currently considering development options for the land. It’s also looking to bring in an architectural firm to help guide it through the process.

“There’s a lot of different factors you’ve got to look at,” said McDermott. “I think it certainly can be office space, but I also think there are opportunities for other things to go there as well.”

He said that one of the options is an indoor-outdoor, multi-sport concept.

“Could there be an e-gaming facility? Could there be a rock-climbing facility?” McDermott asked. “I think things like that are kind of where my head naturally goes.”

He emphasized that no development will occur until a full feasibility study has been conducted. This would help determine what most likely would or would not succeed. The study would also determine if there would be any retail space, restaurants, or townhomes included in the development.
