The 71st Season of Delco Hi-Q opens Thursday, Nov. 8, when all 21 high school teams converge upon Marple Newtown High School for the annual practice session.

A partnership between Delaware County Intermediate Unit and Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation, Delco Hi-Q is the oldest, continuous academic quiz competition in the nation. Each year, the season commences with a practice session, affording teams the opportunity to flex their Hi-Q prowess and acclimate new competitors to the rigors of the timed contest questions.

Hi-Q was founded in 1948 as a quiz competition on a Chester radio station and has evolved into a fast-paced, premier academic competition. More than 200 high school students from Delaware County participate each year.

In addition to support from participating schools, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and the Wilbur C. and Betty Lea Henderson Foundation are the primary corporate sponsors. Additional support comes from longtime sponsors Kimberly-Clark Corporation and the Delaware County Daily Times.
