Essington-based AmeriHealth Caritas is moving its headquarters to the Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The region’s largest Medicaid managed care company will double its space with the move, as it expects to add nearly 1,000 new employees over the coming years. It currently employees around 3,000 people between its Airport Business Center and International Plaza properties.

AmeriHealth will move its corporate headquarters into a five-story building being developed by Equus Capital Partners. However, it does not plan to abandon its presence near the airport.

It will consolidate into 373,000 square feet at the Airport Business Center, which will be renovated by Keystone Property Group beginning in 2021. The new headquarters will house the company’s corporate functions, while the Airport Business Center will include key business units.

The Newtown Square building is currently under construction and should be completed by early 2021.

“The company, over the last five years, has doubled in size nationwide, and that is one of the drivers of the expansion into our new headquarters,” said AmeriHealth spokeswoman Cora Klena.
