More than 350 people gathered last week for the Delaware County Republican Party Salute to Thomas Judge Sr. on his retirement from the courthouse, writes Kathleen Carey for the Daily Times.

The appreciation for Judge ranged from letters sent by former presidents to words from former governors and the state’s Speaker of the House.

Judge, 90, was appointed in 1992 as the county’s Recorder of Deeds. He was also chairman of the Delaware County Republican Party for 34 years until 2009.

He was also pivotal in the election of President George Bush in 1988, helping him win the Keystone State despite a voter disadvantage of a half-million.

This achievement was remembered by the former president.

“I appreciate your devotion to our country and your hard work in growing and assisting in our party,” Bush wrote to Judge. “Thank you for all you have done to help build a brighter future for the good people of Pennsylvania.”
