Faith-Based Group to No Longer Give Sex-Ed Lectures at Strath Haven High School

By

The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District will no longer invite a faith-based group in Drexel Hill to give sex-ed lectures to students in health class at Strath Haven High School, after a senior alleged that its teachings were not factually accurate, writes Kathy Boccella for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Superintendent Lisa Palmer sent an e-mail to parents stating that, after reviewing the materials the group presented during and after the class, she found some information that “was not purely factual.”

The aforementioned student notified school officials about the lectures at a school board meeting in July.

The student is now working to bring her protest to other schools in the Philadelphia area.

“I want to pursue this because I think every student has the right to fact-based, comprehensive sex education,” she said.
