Bethoney joined the Episcopal Academy nine years ago. She currently teaches Upper School biology and works very closely with her colleagues to bring new experiments and activities to the classroom.

Over the last five years, she has designed several short science courses that give students a glimpse of areas not usually offered at the high school level.

She also leads an after-school program, he Episcopal Academy chapter of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. During the summer, Bethoney conducts research at the Temple University Health System’s Fox Chase Cancer Center.

The Pennsylvania Outstanding Biology Teacher Award will be presented to Bethoney in November, at the NABT’s convention in San Diego.

“Receiving this award is extremely gratifying in my quest to teach students how awe-inspiring and diverse biology can be,” she said.
