Yeadon resident Madelyn Kieh, a freshman at Penn Wood High School, is one of five national finalists in the Doodle 4 Google contest, writes Kevin Tustin for the News of Delaware County.

The competition asked students to submit a doodle on a given theme. By qualifying for the final, Kieh, 15, won a laptop computer, a $5,000 college scholarship, and a visit to Google’s headquarters.

The students were asked to create a doodle based on what inspires them. Kieh titled her doodle “Influential Inspiration.” It’s a reflection of growing up with her sister Marilyn, who inspired her to become an artist.

The doodle depicts two girls, with the younger one drawing a snake in the shape of a capital G and the other painting a galaxy in the other G in Google.

The public voted for the five finalists. The overall winner will be chosen by Google executives on June 18.
