Media Ranked as Best Place to Retire in Pennsylvania

Anyone looking for the perfect spot to enjoy their retirement should head out to Media as the Delaware County town is at the top of the list of places to retire in Pennsylvania, according to a recently publish report by the personal financial technology company SmartAsset, writes Philadelphia Business Journal.

To find the best places to retire, SmartAsset collected data on three factors that affect retirees’ quality of life including local and state taxes, medical care, and recreational/social opportunities. Media came first on the list, achieving a SmartAsset Best Places to Retire Index of 68.37.

The town with a population of around 5,500 has a combined tax rate of both income and sales taxes of 16.9 percent. Media also boasts 21 doctor’s offices and 5.1 Recreation Centers, and 1.3 Retirement Centers per 1,000 people. The percentage of seniors in the town is currently at 15 percent.

In addition to its overall list, SmartAsset also provided a ranking based on the three main categories. This shows that Media came first for medical care and second in recreational/social opportunities. The town did not make the top ten for taxes.
