Media Borough Bustles with Charm, Energy

By

Despite covering less than a square mile, Media Borough bustles with a charm and energy that make it a favorite spot for many in Delaware County, writes Ukee Washington for CBS Philly.

The town still has a working trolley that rolls down State Street the same way as when it started in 1895. The old Red Arrow Line still takes passengers to the Media Theatre, another town mainstay that has been entertaining residents for 91 years.

“People can get out here to see shows and take the trolley back home,” said Patrick Ward, the Media Theatre’s executive director.

Meanwhile, the former National Guard Armory now has a Trader Joe’s on top and Pennsylvania Veterans Museum below. The museum was started by World War II veteran Ed Buffman Sr. with the help of his son, Ed Jr.

“It’s not gigantic in stature, but it’s huge in content,” he said.

Media is also home to the Media Fellowship House, which was founded in 1944 to bring together people of all cultures.

“We are supported tremendously by our community,” said Jerry Duffy, the Media Fellowship House’s executive director. “Media is just fantastic.”
