Dan DiLella

Dan DiLella, CEO of Newtown Square-based Equus Capital Partners, is taking a lead role in planning our nation’s 250th birthday, writes Alfredo Boyd for DunlapPost.com.

DiLella will chair the United States Semiquincentennial Commission, the group tasked with organizing projects marking 250 years of independence in 2026.

In addition to DiLella, the Philadelphia caucus of the commission includes Comcast’s David L. Cohen and University of Pennsylvania president Amy Gutmann. DiLella was recommended by Senator Pat Toomey several months ago.

The Delaware County-based developer is well known for dealing with investors and planners at all government levels. He’s also a Villanova University trustee and a patron of its real estate program.

Several weeks ago, DiLella selected Frank Giordano, heir and boss at Atlantic Trailer Leasing, as executive director of the commission. The 24-member commission will formally gather later this year, most likely at the Union League.

At the moment, the planned celebrations are focused on Philadelphia, with commemorations in other colonial ports and the 13 founding states also being considered.

“It’s a celebration of the entire country, with an emphasis on where we are today,” said DiLella.
