Wilmington’s Troy Hendrickson has decided to quit his job and dedicate himself, full time, to his comedic Aunt Mary Pat routine, which went viral on social media after the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, according to a report from The Associated Press.

Hendrickson achieved instant fame online when he posted on Facebook a video of a foul-mouthed, chain-smoking character devoted to the Eagles. It was based on his own mother, who was born and raised in Delaware County.

The video’s popularity soared once the media caught on. Now, Aunt Mary Pat has become big enough for Hendrickson to hit the road.

He has announced a still-expanding, 13-date tour with stops that include bars, restaurants, and music venues. There, fans can see the skit live and purchase Aunt Mary Pat merchandise.

The demand has grown so much that Hendrickson has given his notice to the state’s Department of Labor and quit his part-time bartending job.

His mother Susan also loves being the inspiration for his fame.

“Who knew that making fun of mom would take off like this?” she said.
