Episcopal Academy junior Ivan Puskovitch – a West Chester resident and one of the best, young open-water swimmers in America – has committed to the University of Southern California, writes Anne Lepesant for SwimSwam Magazine.

Puskovitch, 17, is primarily an open-water swimmer and distance freestyle specialist.

“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Southern California to continue my academics and swimming,” he said. “I would like to thank everyone who has helped make this possible, especially my mom, my brother, and my coach, Chris Lear.”

Puskovitch recently discussed his training regimen with the Main Line Media News.

“I do 12 practices every week, and I train every day of the week,” he said. “Monday through Friday involves a 75-minute practice in the morning before school starts, followed by a two-hour-and-15-minute practice after classes.

“I also do 45 minutes to an hour of dry land three days a week after my second swim session. On Saturdays, I swim for three hours, and on Sundays, I swim for two hours.”
