Delaware County ranks 49th out of the 67 counties in Pennsylvania in terms of its overall health, according to the ninth annual County Health Rankings.

By ranking the health of nearly every county in the nation, the County Health Rankings help communities understand what influences how healthy residents are and how long they will live.

These comparisons among counties provide context and demonstrate that where you live – and many other factors – can deeply impact your ability to live a healthy life.

The Rankings are a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. They weigh the following factors:

• Length of life
• Quality of life
• Health behaviors
• Clinical care
• Social and economic factors
• Physical environment

The County Health Rankings illustrate what we know when it comes to what is keeping people healthy or making them sick and shows what we can do to create healthier places to live, learn, work, and play.

Chester County ranks as the healthiest county in Pennsylvania, while Montgomery County checks in at No. 4. Philadelphia is 67th out of 67.
