The fate of the site of the former Towne House Restaurant that is currently owned by Eli Kahn is still unresolved, writes Susan Serbin for the Delaware County News Network.

The Media property has attracted significant interest and controversy in recent years. It was purchased from the original owners in late 2015 as part of a larger acquisition. This also included a series of row homes along Baltimore Avenue, along with a three-story brick structure that houses a number of businesses.

Since then, there have been numerous plans for the development, but none have come to fruition.

“I’ve worked on a bunch of concepts, including multi-family, newer housing,” said Kahn. “The borough is open to listening, but it’s a little discouraging and taking longer than anticipated.”

And while no plans have been formally presented to the borough, members of the public have made strong objections before the Community Development Committee for a development larger than the existing buildings.

However, Kahn said that suggestions from residents for a smaller-scope development were unrealistic.

“I’m continuing to figure out what to do. There isn’t anything different in my attitude,” said Kahn. “I’m looking at alternatives.”
