Chadds Ford supervisors are working with residents and business owners to make the area more walkable, writes Lisa Dukart for Main Line Today.

The goal is to lure people outdoors, and create an easier way for tourists to reach popular destinations. The concept began to come to fruition three years ago, when the township partnered with the Brandywine Conservancy.

At the time, a committee was formed to set out realizable goals and a realistic timeline. The master plan was finalized by Norristown’s Simone Collins Landscape Architecture and Exton’s McMahon Associates in 2015.

Now, work has begun.

“Imagine being able to walk from the Brandywine Battlefield to the conservancy, then to Andrew Wyeth’s studio, and basically see 300 years of history,” said Frank Murphy, one of Chadds Ford’s three township supervisors. “That’s our vision.”
