Radnor’s Qlik is looking for a new leader following the decision of its longstanding CEO Lars Björk to step down, writes Joseph DiStefano for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The business-data analytics company competes with Tableau and Spotfire and Microsoft’s Excel-based packages. But now, after 17 years with the company, Björk has said he is ready to leave Qlik.

“I am proud of the innovative offerings and exponential growth we’ve achieved,” he said.

David Murphy, the former president of Blue Coat software, will act as interim CEO while the board begins the search for Björk’s successor.

Murphy is currently a Qlik director, as well as a managing director at the Chicago investment firm Thoma Bravo. Last year, Thoma Bravo bought Qlik for $3 billion after activist shareholders pushed Björk to either boost the firm’s slowing sales growth or find ways to cut costs.

However, Seth Boro, Murphy’s colleague at Thoma Bravo, praised the departing Björk for “building a world-class software business” and “developing one of the most unique corporate cultures in the technology space.”
