The Villanova University School of Business has appointed Matthew Manion as the new faculty director of the Center for Church Management, writes Lou Baldwin for CatholicPhilly.com.

Manion will replace Dr. Charles Zech, who decided to step down from his role as the faculty director of the CCM and Master’s of Science in Church Management program.

Zech, who established the program 13 years ago as the first of its kind in the country, will remain at the institution to assist with the transition.

A graduate of the Penn’s Wharton School, Manion’s last position was senior fellow at the Catholic Leadership Institute in Wayne.

“What I have experienced and seen through the master’s program is we can help people who work for the church, or who want to work for the church, with a combination of skills from the business school and also include courses in canon law, ecclesiology and Catholic social teaching,” said Manion.
