Colleen Morrone and John McBlain of Delaware County Council joined city and state officials to welcome Chum Bunrong, Cambodian Ambassador to the United States and Mexico, to Delco at a reception held last week at the Wharf Building along the Delaware Riverfront in Chester.

Earlier that day, Ambassador Bunrong met with a number of top business and educational leaders from the county and city to discuss economic development. His visit is historical as it marks the first time that a Cambodian Ambassador has come to the county on official business.

“Meeting with the Cambodian Ambassador and his delegation was an exciting opportunity to discuss potential economic development,” said McBlain. “We told the Ambassador that Delaware County is diverse in its geography, from the river to the Main Line, from urban areas to agricultural areas. Just as important, Delco is diverse in its many cultures.

“Seizing on creative opportunities, such as potential development of a Cambodian cultural center, has in part helped Delaware County achieve the highest year-to-year job growth percentages of any county in our region.”
