The 700,000 barrels a day of propane, ethane, and butane that Sunoco Logistics is preparing to send through its Mariner East 2 and 2X pipelines will spew out up to $3.7 billion of investments into the state’s economy, according to a new study cited in a Daily Times report by Leslie Krowchenko.

The study from London’s independent IHS Markit pinpoints the benefits of Sunoco Logistics tapping “the second-largest natural gas field in the world” and the prospects of also attracting new “cracker plants and petrochemical and plastics manufacturing,” the article explained.t

“Pennsylvania has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to develop and implement a strategy that will cultivate a manufacturing renaissance and transform our economy across the commonwealth,” said Gov. Tom Wolf.

“We must ensure that we make the most of this chance to create good-paying jobs for Pennsylvanians in the petrochemical and plastic industry.”
