Thanks to the efforts of Iris Richardson, the Interim Assistant Director of Residence Life, and campus staff, students moving into Penn State Brandywine’s new residence hall in August will find it feels like home, writes Haleigh Swansen for Penn State News.

Richardson’s previous life management experience includes working with programs at other Penn State branches – including Berks, Schuylkill, and University Park – as well as at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City and West Chester University.

When she heard about Penn State Brandywine’s and Abington’s plans to open a residence hall in 2017, Richardson eagerly joined the effort.

“I did my undergraduate degree at Penn State Berks, and I’m a residence life area coordinator at University Park,” said Richardson.

While the residence hall is not yet completed, Richardson has been very busy with the preparations for the opening, with the training of research assistants already under way at Brandywine.

In addition to training students to become leaders in the residence hall, Richardson also meets with other branches of campus life to assist them in preparing for having a 24-hour student presence on campus.

“To get Abington’s and Brandywine’s residence programs up and running will take lots of behind-the-scenes, logistical work,” she said.
