There are 150 new jobs coming to Newtown Square thanks to SAP, writes Joseph DiStefano for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The business software producer is planning to add 400 new jobs to its Pennsylvania locations, with 150 of them headed to its U.S. headquarters in Newtown Square. The Delco location already employs close to 3,000 people, including SAP CEO Bill McDermott.

“The largest units in NSQ are engaged in custom development, cloud delivery services, and managed cloud delivery,” said company spokesman Steve Collins. “And we also have units who work on global product security, knowledge management, and product portfolio management.”

The company has had its U.S. headquarters in Delaware County since the 1980s. However, employment numbers have hovered steadily around 3,000 since 2000, despite the company’s ongoing growth in New York, Washington, and other U.S. office locations.

The latest expansion has been helped by a financial package from the state, which has agreed to pay SAP $600,000 through a Pennsylvania First program grant. SAP is also set to receive $1.176 million in Job Creation Tax Credits if the increases go as planned.

“We are excited to continue to expand in Pennsylvania,” said Jennifer Morgan, President of SAP North America.
