Alum Brings Decades of Fashion to Penn State Brandywine’s Golden Anniversary
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Penn State Brandywine students literally stepped back in time — and into the fashions from decades past.
Led by alumna and fashion design entrepreneur Meaghan Daly, students recreated the campus’s fashion highlights alongside posters recognizing accomplished students.
“These banners really draw attention to our milestone anniversary, and it was great to get our students involved in a fun and creative way,” Director of Marketing and Communications Bill Tyson said in a Penn State news article. “The students who participated really enjoyed it, and we’ve received a lot of positive feedback.”
In addition to her 2015 New York Fashion Week experience, Daly brought her old Penn State Brandywine study skills to the project in order to maintain historical accuracy.
“I used books and fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar from different eras, looked at photos online and from Brandywine’s archives, and asked my family members from different generations about looks from the decades they grew up in,” Daly said. “I also listened to music from every decade when designing, so I could better understand the impact that music had on fashion at the time.”
