Adapt Pharma, which has its U.S. headquarters in Radnor, is donating two doses of its Narcan Nasal Spray treatment for opioid overdoses to 128 high schools across the state, including a pair in Delaware County, writes Alison Burdo for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Ridley School District and Penncrest High School will receive the medication that can reverse an overdose from prescription pain pills or heroin by blocking the effects of opioids on the brain.

This comes after the Main Line pharmaceutical company’s announcement in January that it would be providing $75 worth of its life-saving medication to every school in the U.S. through the Department of Education.

“We understand the crucial role schools can play to change the course of the opioid overdose epidemic by working with students and families,” said Seamus Mulligan, chairman and CEO of Adapt Pharma. “We also want every high school in the country to be prepared for an opioid emergency by having access to a carton of Narcan Nasal Spray at no cost.”
