Cheri Oteri

Upper Darby native and Saturday Night Live alum Cheri Oteri is returning to television with a new role in FOX’s black comedy Scream Queens, writes Conner Schwerdtfeger for Cinema Blend.

Oteri, who graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill, became a household name when she joined Saturday Night Live. She is best known for her portrayal of manic characters who mesmerized audiences for years.

The role she has signed on for is not yet specified, but it comes as no surprise as one of her most prominent film roles was Scary Movie. There, she played Gail Hailstorm, a parody of Gale Weathers from the Scream franchise.

She has also established herself as a talented comedienne with a strong affinity for parodies, thus making Scream Queens the perfect fit.

Oteri will also be joining the cast of Those Who Can’t, a school-based comedy series on TruTV, for a seven-episode stint during the show’s second season.

The second season of Scream Queens is currently under way, airing on Tuesdays at 9 PM on FOX, while Those Who Can’t begins its second season on Oct. 6 at 10:30 PM.
