Top Lumber Academy, a premier indoor baseball and softball training academy in Ridley Township, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Saturday.

The state-of-the-art training facility located in the Ridley Business Center in Holmes features 5,000 square feet of playing surface, with the ability to change the field configuration to any customer’s needs.

The Academy offers batting and pitching tunnels, hitting instruction on batting tees, and a wide-open area for fielding practice. Individuals and teams are invited to practice and train with Top Lumber’s trained coaching staff or their personal coaches.

Top Lumber Academy is the creation of owners Len Montano and Dave Kowalski, who aimed to bring a high level of baseball and softball training and instruction to the youth of Delaware County.

During their teenage years, Montano starred at the now-defunct St. James High School in Chester, while Kowalski competed at Strath Haven High School.

Montano started the Top Lumber Bat Co., making custom wood baseball bats for himself and other adults in the Delco League, and the company now supplies wood bats to numerous baseball leagues in the United States, Mexico, and Venezuela.
