Details of the current plans for renovating Villanova University’s Pavilion have emerged on SB Nation’s VUHoops.com, writes Jonathan Tannenwald for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

While the burning issue of insufficient seats will not be addressed, according to the latest information, there are major changes planned. These include the relocation of the arena’s main entrance to the area behind the student section which will undergo a major transformation.

This new area will contain merchandise, large concession stands, big screen TVs, bars, and tables. All of the planned amenities will likely be above court level, but it is still unclear whether that means the court will be lowered or this area will be raised.

The seating will continue to feature its current “quadrant” approach, as creating a bowl style is still not possible due to the limitations of the building’s current footprint. These restrictions also mean that new bleachers and regular seats will not be added, despite the urgent need for them.

The only planned seating changes will alter the current student section by trimming its size and placing a number of student seats behind the opposite basket to improve their view.
