The Radnor Township Planning Commission was recently presented with tentative plans for changes to lot boundaries for the Phase 4 section of the Ardrossan Farms luxury housing development, writes Linda Stein for the Main Line Media News.

According to Edgar Scott III, one of the heirs of the Montgomery Scott family who is handling the sale of the land, the proposed changes will adjust the site from 19 building lots to just six 10-acre lots. This change should allow developers more flexibility, but will still require 15 percent to remain open space in line with its approved conditional use.

Part of the development plan also requires the preservation of 10 existing houses, including the Horace Trumbauer-designed mansion that inspired the play and movie The Philadelphia Story.

Scott is also keen on balancing the development of the area.

“One of the things that is very important here is the opportunity to give conservation easements,“ he said. “When you do those conservation easements, you end up with plans, what you can build or can’t.“
