The Radnor Township Planning Commission is considering changes to its Planned Laboratory Office zoning with further discussions scheduled for next month, writes Linda Stein for the Main Line Media News.

The proposed changes would allow Penn Medicine more flexibility for the 19-acre Wyeth Lab site it recently purchased at 145 King of Prussia Road, half of which it does not plan to use itself.

The proposal asks for a more simplified version of the ordinance to allow mixed uses in spaces that are currently earmarked for office and laboratory space.

According to Commissioner Donald Curley, four earlier versions of an ordinance for mixed-use were “unnecessarily complex.”

Curley’s proposal states that the uses on “List A” would still be office and labs, but “List B” would allow for several other types of buildings, including a hotel, restaurant within an office building, indoor health and fitness center, and an independent living facility.

“I thought a simpler version would be effective,” he said. The goal would remain the same, which is to reduce traffic in the congested area that abuts the Blue Route.
