Wawa, the Delco-based chain of convenience stores, is a staple in the lives of Delaware Valley residents and beyond. Almost 700 Wawa stores – more than half of which sell gasoline – are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Central Florida. They offer built-to-order hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, specialty beverages, and an assortment of soups, sides, and snacks. Wawa has the following positions available at its corporate headquarters in Media:

Tax Accountant

This position is responsible for the preparation of supporting schedules and other information to be utilized by an outside CPA firm to prepare Wawa S-Corporation income tax returns. He/she will assist in the preparation of the company’s quarterly taxable income projections. The person will also prepare monthly motor fuel, excise tax, mercantile, sales, and personal property tax returns.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, and have one to two years of accounting or business experience. He/she should have excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work with little or no supervision. The person must be detail-oriented and have the ability to perform research in both accounting and taxation.

Manager of Assortments Packaged Goods

This position will develop strategies and tactics to achieve gross profit budgets, and create annual budget projections for volume and costs. He/she will closely monitor performance and adjust plans as needed. The person will also manage cost and retail pricing strategies based on marketplace surveys. Additional responsibilities include developing category strategy in conjunction with category manager based on competitive and geographical landscape, as well as creating promotional strategy, timing, and advertising support to optimize category profitability.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree, and have four to six years of category analytical experience in the consumer goods or foodservice categories. He/she must be proficient in Microsoft Suites with advanced skill in Excel and Power Point. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills are required.

Product Development Specialist

This position is responsible for the development of Wawa-branded products. He/she will work closely with the Category Team to align products with strategic goals. The person is also responsible for refining existing programs to increase quality, as well as driving cost and non-value added activities out of Wawa’s operations. The position will work independently to move projects through the process to meet the assigned goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Food Science or Culinary Arts, certification as a Culinary Scientist or Research Chef, or related experience. He/she should have three to four years of experience using a formal product development process. The person must have the ability to evaluate and make recommendations on products or processes based on their sensorial attributes.
