Philly Tribune Profiles Darby Board Member Steven Bradley

By

Darby Township’s Steven Bradley takes the phrase civic duty to whole new level, as illustrated by Louis Bolling’s feature on him in the Philadelphia Tribune.

Bradley currently serves – or is associated with – the boards of more than 20 organizations, and has been appointed by Pennsylvania’s last two governors to serve on the boards of the Pennsylvania Economic Development Financing Authority and the Advisory Board on Diversity, Inclusion, and Small Business Opportunities.

Bradley was also appointed to Mayor Jim Kenney’s Commerce and Business Transition Team and has served on the City’s Jobs Commission, Living Wage and Benefits Review, and Economic Opportunity Review Committees.

“Steven is thoughtful and fair, and he has dedicated his life to the economic empowerment of Philadelphians,” said Kenney. “Our city is lucky to have him.”

“Steve Bradley is a leader for our city and region,” said Rob Wonderling, President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. “He is deeply committed to his family, community, and growth and prosperity of all of our citizens.”

Bradley is the youngest of seven children and graduated as the salutatorian from Darby Township High School in 1981, before heading off to Fisk University, a Historically Black University in Nashville, Tenn. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and economics.

Bradley has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, having served as president and CEO of Watlington & Cooper, one of the oldest and largest minority brokerage firms in the region. He eventually “followed his dreams and opened his own agency,” serving as president and CEO of Bradley & Bradley Associates.

As a result of Bradley’s business relationships and civic engagement activities, he has been able to make a tremendous impact throughout the region.

Bradley received Fisk University’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2015. He has also been honored with awards from the Urban League of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Business Journal, and the Philadelphia Tribune.
