Students interested in entrepreneurship, content creation, and digital media can build real-world skills this summer at two Brandywine LaunchBox camps.
Students ages 11 to 18 will gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and podcast production as they explore their own creativity and develop business and media skills.
The camps are led by Penn State staff, students, and community partners who provide mentorship and guidance throughout the programs.
Opportunity to Launch
Opportunity to Launch is designed for students ages 15 to 18 who want to transform their ideas into achievable goals.
Through action planning, progress tracking, weekly accountability check-ins, and collaborative group activities, participants learn the mindset and practical skills needed to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and personal ambitions.
The two-week camp runs weekdays from July 6 through July 17, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Audio Visual Program – Podcasting
Students interested in media production can enroll in the Audio Visual Program – Podcasting camp, where they will learn how to create, record, edit, brand, market, and launch their own podcasts.
Participants gain experience using industry-standard tools, including Canva, CapCut, and Adobe software, while learning audio production, media distribution, audience development, and marketing strategies.
The podcasting program runs July 20 through Aug. 21.
Sessions for ages 11 to 14 meet weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while students ages 15 to 18 attend from 1 to 5 p.m.
The camps are designed to provide opportunities that many students may not otherwise have access to, according to Tony Mattei, director of entrepreneurship and digital marketing at Penn State Brandywine.
“Our immersive, scholarship-based summer camps are all about giving middle and high school students a place to be creative, build confidence, and develop real-world entrepreneurial skills in a fun and supportive environment,” Mattei said.
The camps are funded through grants from Meridian Fund and Halliday Properties Youth Programs.
They allow students to participate in programs that combine professional mentorship, hands-on learning, and career exploration.
Mattei said the goal is to help students discover their potential while learning skills that can benefit them long after the summer ends.
“We developed this program because we wanted young people to have access to the kind of opportunities, mentorship, and encouragement that can truly change the direction of their future,” he said.
“Through goal setting, teamwork, and mentorship from industry guest speakers, we’re helping students discover their potential, believe in their creativity, and bring their visions to life.”
