One of the nation’s largest homebuilders has its sights set on rural Chester County, and its plans include saving a local speedway in the process, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
D.R. Horton is proposing a 170-home development on 130 acres next to the Honey Brook Speedway. The planned community, called Arbor’s Glen, would feature 85 duplex buildings and public amenities.
In atypical fashion for the company, D.R. Horton plans to split off and donate the 4-acre speedway parcel. It aims to keep the longtime racing venue, home to the Honeybrook Speedway Quarter Midget Club, in operation rather than folding it into the development.
The community’s public amenities would include a baseball field, basketball court, tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds, and parking areas open for township use.
“The project represents one of the more significant planned residential developments currently under consideration in the Honey Brook area and is intended to provide a mix of housing opportunities while also expanding recreational amenities available to township residents,” said Nick Potts, D.R. Horton’s Eastern Pennsylvania division president.
Homes are planned to range from 2,000 to 2,600 square feet, with pricing not yet announced. D.R. Horton hopes to secure final approvals by the end of 2026 or early 2027, with site work to follow.
