If your lifelong desire has been to own a street sweeper, now’s your chance.
Darby Township is putting a street sweeper up for auction, writes Emily Rose Grassi for NBC 10 Philadelphia.
The 2024 Elgin Pelican NP D Dual, Tier 4F sweeper is in like-new condition and could find a good home with a road maintenance company, according to a community spokesman.
The sweeper’s original purchase price on the site was listed at $273,000, purchased from Gran Turk in June 2024. It has since traveled 1,792 miles, though it’s been carefully maintained, according to information on the auction site.
It comes with an AM/FM radio and a CD player.
The online auction is open to the public. It began April 21 and continues through Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
As of Friday, May 1, 22 bids had been received, with the highest bid at $62,100. The auction site has received 3,423 page views.
The sale will be approved to the highest bidder by Darby Township’s Board of Commissioners at the end of the auction.
All proceeds from the auction are going back to Darby Township to improve the community.
