There’s more than one path to a successful career, and for many people, skilled trades and advanced manufacturing offer opportunities that are hands-on, rewarding, and in high demand.
That’s exactly what Delaware County Community College’s Try a Trade Day is designed to showcase.
On Tuesday, May 26, from 10 AM-2 PM, DCCC will open the doors of its Advanced Technology Center in Media for a free, hands-on experience introducing attendees to the world of skilled trades and advanced manufacturing.
Whether you’re a high school student exploring career options, an adult considering a career change, or simply curious about how these industries work, this event offers a chance to step into the lab, watch demonstrations, and meet professionals and instructors who work in these fields every day.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore careers in electrical work, automotive technology, carpentry, welding, CNC machining, HVAC, and more — all industries that continue to face growing workforce demand across the region.
Careers in the skilled trades can offer strong salaries, job stability, hands-on work, and faster entry into the workforce without the level of student debt often associated with traditional four-year degrees.
DCCC has continued to expand its skilled trades and workforce development offerings in response to growing regional demand for trained workers. It offers several hands-on certificate and degree programs that are designed to prepare students for industry certifications, apprenticeships, and entry-level careers in fields that continue to face workforce shortages.
If you’ve ever wondered whether the trades might be the right fit for you, this is a chance to find out firsthand. No prior experience is necessary; just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
